The Electron Beam Welding Process
Electron beam (EB) welding continuously joins dissimilar precious and non-precious metals of varying thicknesses, temper and tensile strength, conductivity, and more. This process allow the joining of metal with different metallurgical properties, reduces material and labor costs through a one-piece system and eliminates scrap loss inherent in the milling and skiving processes. EB welding can also be used to selectively zone anneal a narrow zone along the length of the coil.
The EB Welding Advantage
- Improved productivity by eliminating welding (or other joining method) of two or more stamped parts through the use of pre-welded strip
- Widest range of metal combinations
Different properties
Different metals/alloys
Different thicknesses
Different conductivities
- Precious/non-precious
- Magnetic/non-magnetic
- Different coating
- High expansion/low expansion
